Find Loving Sheriff Records

To find someone released after a Loving County Sheriff arrest, separate the originating agency from the jail that performed the release. The Mentone sheriff office does not operate an open county jail. Its records can establish the arrest, alleged offense, warrant, and transport, while neighboring Winkler County usually holds the booking, property, exact release time, and transfer record. A sound Loving County released-inmate search joins both custodians with the court cause and follows any receiving authority when the person remained in custody.

Loving Arrests Leave Mentone

The official jail-information page directs detention questions to Winkler County Sheriff. Loving may arrest a person and retain the offense report, warrant or cause identifiers, transport information, and official press account. Winkler normally creates the jail admission, photograph, property inventory, bond entry, release order, exact departure time, and destination record.

A person can return to the community on bond, personal bond, dismissal, time served, or sentence discharge. A transfer to another county, TDCJ, USMS, or ICE is continued custody. Loving's February 2026 report documented extradition from Winkler to Ellis County. Its December 2025 report described people later out on bond. These local examples show why “left Winkler” is not a complete answer.

The closed-jail arrangement is the defining facility fact. The Texas Commission on Jail Standards lists Loving among counties boarding small inmate populations elsewhere. Do not present 114 West Collins Street as a jail exit or release desk. It is the originating sheriff office and a records custodian.

Confirm a Loving Arrest Release

First call the Winkler County Sheriff at 432-586-3461. Give the full name, birth date if known, arrest date, and Loving as the origin. Ask whether the person is present. If not, request the exact departure date and time, release type, and destination. A missing name or “not here” response does not distinguish release from transfer.

Next use the Loving County and District Clerk. Match the cause number, charge, arrest date, and identity. A bond order, dismissal, judgment, sentence, jail credit, revocation, warrant, or transfer entry can explain the authority. Court action is durable, but it does not replace the jail's physical timestamp.

Follow the receiving system. A TDCJ transfer leads to the statewide offender search. Another county requires that jail and court. Federal custody leads to the docket, USMS, and later BOP if designated. Suspected immigration custody leads to ICE ODLS. The Loving County release guide maps those routes.

Loving Sheriff Record Requests

The office is at 114 West Collins Street, P.O. Box 104, Mentone, Texas 79754; phone 432-377-2411 and fax 432-377-2025. Published hours are Monday through Thursday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and Friday, 8:00 a.m. to noon. Those are office hours, not jail-release hours.

The sheriff's request page uses the label “FOIA,” but the applicable state process is the Texas Public Information Act. It lists sherifflandersman@co.loving.tx.us, cfielder@co.loving.tx.us, and lpearson@co.loving.tx.us. Ask for the arrest or offense report, originating warrant and cause identifiers, transport communications, and release-status material Loving actually holds.

Send a separate request to Winkler for booking and release artifacts. Ask for the booking sheet and number, photograph, property records, authorized release order, exact release time, release reason, bond entry, and transfer destination. No researched flat local fee was published. Request electronic copies and an estimate before costs exceed a set amount.

Loving Sheriff Online Limits

The redesigned sheriff site has jail information, forms, alerts, press reports, and an app page, but no official roster or rolling release list. The app page says both store versions are forthcoming and describes no inmate lookup, release list, or photograph function. Email alerts announce new site items rather than one person's custody changes.

Press reports are selective case narratives, not a complete archive. They can preserve an arrest photograph and later status, but there is no promised cadence or 24-hour or 72-hour window. Absence from the press index proves nothing. The 24-Hour Releases page explains the official fallback.

Commercial pages that imply a functioning Loving County Jail conflict with current county and TCJS sources. Treat them only as leads. Verify identity and the custody event with Loving, Winkler, the clerk, and any receiving agency.

Kermit Is the Release Point

The likely physical release occurs in Kermit, not Mentone. No official waiting area, pickup door, bus stop, property desk, rideshare rule, or local release timetable was identified. Families should call Winkler before travel and verify that processing has finished, where pickup is permitted, and whether the person instead went to another authority.

Texas jail standards require identity verification, an authorized order, retention of the exact release time, and a signed receipt for returned property. They generally place sentence-discharge releases in a daytime period, while bond and specified transfer circumstances can occur after hours. That statewide floor is not a promise of a particular Winkler exit time.

The release order and timestamp prove the physical event. The property receipt can corroborate completion. A transfer record names continued custody. The Loving court cause explains the legal case. Together, those records answer when, why, and where the person went.

Transferred Is Not Released

Transfer ambiguity is locally documented. The February report says a person transported to Winkler was extradited to Ellis County. The person left the holding jail but did not return to the community. Always request the destination or receiving authority.

For TDCJ, look for the state number, unit, and later actual release status. For USMS, use the federal docket and records request because there is no public released-detainee locator. For BOP, a released status proves departure only from BOP. For ICE, an ODLS miss is inconclusive. Each system-specific result must remain within its scope.
